Here is the problem....My fiance is in China and her Windows XP Operating System has only the Chinese language on it. She does not have an Operating System Disk so that we can wipe out her system and start over and I hope that we don't need to do that.

The Yahoo Messsenger on her system has gone wacko. It will not let her see any messages from me (or anyone else), nor will it forward any messages she types. Sometimes, it will allow her to use her webcam, sometimes not.

I'm not even sure what questions to ask here. I am quite sure that she has been attacked by some kind of malware, spyware, virus, etc. She is not the least bit computer savy. She is a user only. When I try to ask her what the screen options are, she can't tell me because she can't translate them into English.

So, lets start here. Is there any know bugs out there that will cause this problem? If so, is there a fix that I can download to her. Do not even suggest that she come to this site. When I was in China a couple of weeks ago, I tried to get on this site from her computer and it went nuts!

Is there any free Remote Assistance software that I can downlaod that will allow me to access her computer from here and see the screens in English?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

China is famous for being one of the main sources of viruses and malware (Russia is too). She may have been infected by a Chinese virus that has changed everything into Chinese; if the PC has been compromised by a remote attacker, they may have changed everything to Chinese so they can read what is on the PC. It's probably a real good idea to keep her PC off the internet if she has any personal stuff on it she doesn't want shared or taken. As to the remote desktop software, there are some free ones, but I seriously doubt that they will translate from Chinese to English, but I guess you can try. Here's the first free one that came to mind:

It must be installed on both PCs to work properly. But so would any other similar application. AFAIK you cannot install a remote desktop tool on just one PC; both have to have it installed and running....

    Good luck!

Thanks..but to clarify...her computer language is Chinese because she is Chinese and she is not fluent enough in English yet to be able to use a computer that has a default language of English. I am not fluent enough in Chinese to be able to read her screens! Thanks for the remote desktop tool...I am still looking for a cause for the Yahoo Messenger problem???/

OK- I totally misunderstood what you were saying  I thought that you said her PC had been taken over by the Chinese language.... my bad rolleyes I don't use any messengers so I can't really offer any advice other than to maybe uninstall it and re-install it, and maybe do the same for the webcam drivers.... but make sure you can get the drivers before uninstalling them ;) It seems that many folks have been having problems finding webcam drivers recently....
