SNL had a skit w a "hip" beethoven, acting kinda tony orlando-ish. with some mock-german tossed in.

midway thru the routine came:

"For those of you who like the quieter stuff, my Moonlight Sonata is dropping next week.

I wanted to call it 'Panty Raid', but the suits said nang....

Which is a shame - I think that title's a TEN!"

translation please! the reaction was clearly to "ten", not the title per se. am i missing some obvious PUN?

plus "nang" means good/cool, etc., so the middle line doesn't even make sense! unless i'm mishearing "nein" or something...??

nang...nein...ten.... could it be??

nah, that is BEYOND a stretch. and the audience reaction was swift.

what am i MISSING here?!

I just saw the skit on Hulu and it was pretty funny. Jimmy said "but the suits said "nein"" to the title of Panty Raid but the joke was also meant a reference to the number 9. Then he said "I think that title's a TEN!". (instead of a 9 (nein)).

 

He puts the 'dick' in 'tuba'....

that's going on my tombstone!

anyway...i considered the "nein" theory (end of post), but having listened now 15 times, i don't hear anything but "nang". did he fumble the line?

i know that's what i heard b/c i didn't know what "nang" MEANT, and had to go a-googling. wherein i found it to be the biggest slang term of the last 15 years.
