Oh Winamp Users

This is a bad vulnerability...best to uninstall version 5.12 and earlier and watch for 5.13 to be posted on the MG home page. It's actually already released, just not on MG yet.

Note in the Secunia alert that "An Exploit Is Publicly Available". That needs no explaination as to its' nature.

This is about the 4th or 5th time they've found this type of hole in the program. Me thinks I'd rather switch than fight.

 

I sent the e-mail to Tim but he hasnt posted it yet.

 

Just a follow-up...if you are using Winamp 5.12 or earlier, search your computer for a file called "crafted.pls"; if it's there, the vulnerability has already done its dirty deed on you.

 

The new version just went up on the MG home page....grab it and growl

Kidding aside, uninstall the old and install the new; it's a pretty serious deal as far as vulnerabilities go.

I used the uninstall from winamp. it told me could not uninstall all files.
I did do a search for crafted.pls It was not found.
