Hi!! OK Bill Gates what's up with you now?? All night long you put your little yellow shield in my information tray telling me up dates are ready for my PC. I say OK , do it. I reboot and the shield comes back. You say you did it and a few minutes later the shield is back. I went to Windows up dates and now your broke. Well at least the little shield is now gone. The updates were KB 2478658 & KB 2518864; which I already had. I hope your happy sir, you have drove me crazy all night long. I uninstalled the up dates in Add/Remove and then let you reinstall them and you still put your damn little yellow shield in my tray. Thank God it's finally gone after you drove me crazy for half the night. I restored to a earlier time and went to ADD/ Remove twice. I hope your happy Sir for all the hell you caused me tonight:-D
PS The shield is finally gone!! No I'm not crazy, but some times I get close with all the BS you cause me:-D Could you please get your Sxxx together Bill!! I also tried your Fix it. That sure didn't work. Well at least the little shield is gone now. I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box, but I ain't a dummy. I know what happened tonight and I'm not a happy camper!!

OK Bill!! Nice work!! Now you just scan for new up dates for an hour and tell me nothing about what's going on. Nice, real nice. Well at least that damn little yellow shield is gone in my information tray. You'll get it right some time tonight. We got some real smart people here on Majorgeeks. Maybe you could hire some of them to help you get it together:-D I'm going to bed and hope you don't screw up my PC any more tonight:-D Those up dates have benn on my PC for a long time!!

Hi!! And if all that isn't enough to piss me off: my poker site is down and I can't even play poker. What's your problem Full Tilt?? Can't pay your bills? Major Attitude would like to have his cash back real soon if you can ever get it together. I'm glad you don't have any of my $$$:-D:major I'm going to bed now before I get into more trouble. Move this thread to the appropriate forum. I tell it like I see it and seem to always be in trouble. It's kind of exciting:major

Hi! Yes sir I know all of that, but I'm been playing for play money for a long time. Last night while fighting Bill Gates over two up dates that I already down loaded two weeks ago; I wanted to play some poker, but FT's site was down. I never played for real money any way. I don't trust them. It's to easy to cheat. Maybe it was good that they got shut down.:-D It's a bad deal that people can't get their money back though. It looks like Uncle Bill figured out everyone already had the two Net Framework up dates Microsoft tried to down load all night long. The yellow shield isn't in my tray any more.:-D. That drove me crazy all night.
    Thanks for your reply!!

Hi! I think you are right sir. He's long gone, but I still like to give him hell.:-D:-D. Those two up dates drove me crazy last night and I'm still mad about it.:major.
Bill has done a lot of good with his billions. I just like to give him hell when my PC messes up.;)

The yellow shield is back. Can a MVP on Majorgeeks contact Microsoft and get this fixed please??

OK And the little yellow shield is back again. This is ridiculous!! Help!!

Hi!! This has been going on all night and now it's starting up today. I deleted the event viewer and ran the up date twice to show what's going on. Don't want to be a pest but some thing is wrong and I need some help!!:cry:cry I run the two up dates , but the shield keeps coming back saying up dates are ready for your computer with the same two up dates???

I already down loaded these up dates 6-15-2011:boxing:tas:banghead

This ol' laptop of mine uses XP SP3 and I'm not getting any of this, so maybe it's time to restore one of these Macrium backups you're always telling us about, say one from about a month ago? ;)

I gave up on SP3. It seemingly wiped a bunch of stuff off the hard drive, like any program that didn't ship with XP and all personal stuff like pics and files and basically it was like having a new computer. Not what I expected when there were files that needed to be there to do work and bought programs and the like. Even the hard drive showed as almost empty. A system restore luckily brought it all back. That's when I just turned updates off completely. I eventually went to Win7, but not on that computer. It didn't meet specs. But I never updated any Windows thing past SP3 and things were relatively ok until I bought a new computer on sale.

There's quite a few million users who won't be able to relate to that experience at all! XP SP3 is about as stable as Windows gets.

Hi jack. Perhaps something went awry and WU is not recognizing these 2 KB's you downloaded previously. Do you have all .NET Framework versions as I saw only version 3 on one of the pics? If so and in any case you may want to use the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool: http://majorgeeks.com/.NET_Framework_Cleanup_Tool_d6179.html It will remove all of them Framework versions. Reboot after that and then Windows Update will be knocking on your door pretty soon to install all .NET Framework versions. Hopefully this will work for you as it did for others. If it doesn't then you just lost some of your time. ;)

You can also call Microsoft Support but don't know if they would charge you for any security updates to Framework and who would like to pay them anyways.

EDIT: I see that baklogic may have some solutions for you. Try them first before attempting the above.

Hi friends!! As I mentioned in my last post. I was going to contact Stephen Boots Microsoft MVP. I thank everyone for their advise and I will be trying some of them. I don't think a restore of my OS with Macrium would help, but I might have to do that also. Here is a email from Stephen. I haven't had time to read all or try any of his advise yet. I wanted to post his email here on MG and share it with friends. Stephen is really a nice person and has helped me in the past
Thank you everyone. I will post back later when I have solved this problem. I have deleted the Net Frameworks in the past and reinstalled them and that solved a similar problem. Will post back later .
    Thank you friends!!;);)
    Stephen's Email below!!

    Go here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2478658

    And here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2518864

Both of these are .Net Framework update problems. .Net Framework updates are often an issue.

Post your concern here for some help: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_update?tab=all

Note that you can also get free support for Windows Update problems:

    http://support.microsoft.com/ph/6527#tab0

The issue may be that your installation of .Net is actually broken. See this post: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/arch...et-framework-2-0-and-3-0-on-windows-vista.asp

    Merged as tidy up

Hi Everyone!! This is where I'm at. I used the tool to remove all my Net Framework. All net Frameworks have been uninstalled. I went to Windows up dates and there aren't any up dates available. The damn little yellow shield is gone at this moment.:wave My PC is working just fine. I'm waiting to see if Windows will install up dates latter. The good thing about all this is I always knew I had a back up image of my OS on Macrium Reflect that I could restore my OS with. I wish everyone had a program like Macrium. I want to thank all members here on Majorgeeks. This is a great community and a smart community. I am who I am ; nothing more , nothing less. I appreciate everyone here on MG:cry:-D:major
    oneeyejack!!

This may not work , but here's all my programs. Do you see any thing I need to get rid of??:major

Hi Everyone!! Here's the latest. My PC is running great without any Net Frameworks. I don't have that little annoying yellow shield in my tray any more. I haven't found any thing not working on my PC after Uninstalling Net framwork. I ran CCleaner registry cleaner. It found a ton of registry errors 900. I used ERUNT to back up my registry and let CCleaner do it's thing. I did save a back up. My PC is running great. Will post more later.:-D

Hi Friend!! Here's the latest on Full Tilt!! The site is still down!

Great that the tool worked for you. :) Some program software may however need .NET Framework such as Paint.NET so don't be surprised if you will be told you need to download it in the (near) future. Perhaps WU may be presenting itself some time later to install .NET framework. WU did that almost immediately when I used the tool quite some time ago. Wished that I knew exactly which programs use NET Framework :cry but some obviously do otherwise I wouldn't have gotten WU so soon at my doorstep.

BTW: I can't see in the pic the programs you have installed - way to tiny for my old eyes. When I blow it up it all become way to blurry for me.

Hi friend!! So far so good. Every thing seems to be working. If I find any thing that isn't, I will post it here. I wish I also knew which programs use NET Framework?????? Sorry about the screen shot. Did you try double clicking It??;);) Thank you for the link to down load that tool. It worked great. You have to be patient and let it work. I think I will be OK now. Thanks again!!

@oma!! I'll try to help those old eyes!!:-D Just keep clicking on the jpg until it gets larger!! I'm famous for my screen shots.

    Re: merged as tidy up

Hi jack. I can read now just fine. WOW, you've got a lot of programs in there. Seems to be all okay though. :) No I didn't have to click on them this time. They automatically get bigger by hovering over the pics.

Hi My friend!! If you click on the jpg, after hovering over it, it should get even larger. That's how mine works.;);)

Hi!! Up date. I just checked my Add/Remove and found .net Framework 3.5. It had been removed by the software that oma suggested. Thank you oma!! I 'm not sure but my Process Explorer had stopped working and I had to reinstall it. That's when I noticed .net Framework 3.5 was back on my PC. I'm thinking Process Explorer put it back.
My PC is running so smooth, it scares me.
Thanks again to everyone that posted on this thread!:clap

Don't we wish that software programs would tell us in their info prior to downloading if dotNET is needed and therefore we would know exactly which ones need .dotNET? I don't like silent installations. :(
