I just don't understand why people can't resize their pics, nor do I like horizontal scroll bars because a few people are too lazy, or don't know how to.

It's considered forum etiquette as far as I'm concerned, and I'm not the only person who expects it.

 

i resized mine by 60%. i run dual desktops. any more and no one would be able to make out anything

 

You can avoid the resizing of the board by cutting them in two, and then linking to the two pieces, one under the other.

 

meh, too much work.

ah, thats ok. it wasnt important anyway.

plus, even if i resize mine (and lets say, for the sake of *gasp* no horizontal scrollbars, spaz resizes his), there will still be horizontal scroll bars b/c of "the butterfly effect."

Insomniac why dont you just make your screen bigger? thin we wont have to resize our images.

Where do u guys get these themes from??? I have done a bit of searching and cant find anything that i dont have to pay for or download software to apply it??

 

Google hacked sp2 uxtheme.dll.

Thats a free way to change them.

this effect is achieved with a program called topdesk, which is an expose (Mac OSX) clone for windows.

well, i run duallies...primary is a sony trinitron 17" crt for gaming and secondary is a samsung syncmaster 712n LCD flatpanel. the syncmaster default resolution is 1280x1024, so i had to set the sony to the same res to match it.

I tried TopDesk, and wasn't overly impressed. It had some nice features, but the one it didn't have, that bugged me, is the ability to choose your foreground application from the tiled view. Without that, the application seems worthless aside from a toy.

 

I don't know what Linux does to certain people, but once they use it, they seem to think nothing is as good.

I'd love to see the average person try to install Linux.

Compare that to Windows, instead of ignoring all of Linux's failings and harping on about how safe it is and how little power it requires.


The average user doesn't want to learn command prompts just to install hardware and drivers.

Once Linux gets over that huge hurdle, if ever, maybe then it would have more mainstream appeal.

 

I agree about the install. However, Windows has its own shortcomings when installing drivers. Its more friendly than with Linux. On the pc's i've ever installed Linux on, the only thing that didn't work was a wireless card and 3d acceleration (due to me having an ati card and the lack of ati driver support for linux).

Here are some positive's about Linux. 90% (just a guess) of the distro's are completely free and are open source. A very high majority of the software is completely free and is open source. To the average user, they don't care about the open source part, but the free part is very attractive. Most distro's install the the software you'll ever need.

Linux isn't ready for mainstream goodness, but its on the right track, thanks to Ubuntu.

I'm wondering how we got talking about linux.

Back to wallpaper, every time I use anything but the default XP theme, when I come out of standby I get an nVidia driver BSOD.


Very annoying and I've tried every driver version.

Does that happen to anyone else, or is it just me?
