    my satellite nb is running normal but yesterday started to show me a scareware message. Did a scan from Linux life cd with antivir, clamAV, Kaspersky and bitdefender scanner. Only clam AV found several threads that frightened me a little bit and lead me here to MG board. Eg:
    win.trojan.rootkit-xxxxxx (where xxxxxx are different numbers)

    so I did read the readme, loaded the programms and got these results.
    so, now running malwarebytes, installed without probs.

    Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
    When it opens, press the Scan button
    Now click the Registry tab and locate these detections:

    • [Services][ROGUE ST] HKLM\[...]\ControlSet001\Services\00562855 (C:\Windows\system32\drivers\97390254.sys) -> GEFUNDEN
      [Services][ROGUE ST] HKLM\[...]\ControlSet003\Services\00562855 (C:\Windows\system32\drivers\97390254.sys) -> GEFUNDEN

    Place a checkmark each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
    When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
    Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)

    Now please reboot and rescan with RogueKiller and attach that new log.

    Then please follow the rest of these instructions:

    Re: ok, howdi @all and that is my compi prob (solved!)

    thx a lot, had a deep read in the howto area here, followed all instructions for Vista, had returning win.trojan.rootkit-2755 messages from ClamAV...
    I then disablead the volume shadow copy funktion via registry, exchanged the three infected volsnap.sys (the installed one was 4k larger then the one on a second Vista computer) on my computer and...

    ... in the end, now the system is clean. None of the four AV progggies on my Linux live CD finds anything.

    Malwarebytes says all is ok.

    Roguekiller says all is fine.

    Only Rootkitbuster (RootkitBusterV5.0-1129.exe by Trendmicro) finds five non fixable threads.
    Logs at the end.

    Thx a lot for this board, worth a few dollars via paypal... ;)

    PS any further recommandations for me?

    Good to know.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 4 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
      related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link
