    Hi,

    I've had some issues with spyware already on a new laptop. Dell Inspiron/E1505. I had some type of 'bug' that was tracking & keylogging my every move and I finally did a Dell Restore and had to start from scratch. I thought I had gotten everything but now I'm not so sure that it isn't back!

    I'm a novice at this, so I was looking up all my running processes on google and I found your site. I registered and followed your 'read & run me first' instructions. I'm not even certain that I have my system settings correct. I want it so that no other system can access mine. I don't want any remote access to my laptop unless I specifically request it from Dell, etc. I do think that was my problem before, that somehow I had spyware that someone else was monitoring on my laptop. Don't know how though! I'm using IE 7 that downloaded as an update, and I have it set to the google homepage. I don't have any additional toolbars such as google, yahoo etc.

    A few of the things that are happening;

    When my system hibernates and I bring it back on, it says 'Insufficient System resources exist to complete the API'.

    When I restart it an error comes up that says 'The instrument "0x005300..... Could not be written'.

    It's also locked up a few times and I've had to just power it off and restart it.

    Any advise/guidance would be greatly appreciated. By the way, you're site is great!

    Thanks so much,
    Janet

    This is the HJT log that I just ran;

    Welcome to MajorGeeks.com, please follow our standard cleaning procedures:

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifAfter doing ALL of the above and you still have a problem, make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below thread to properly use HijackThis and attach the log:

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis
    • Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around..
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif In your next post, please make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order:
    • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
    • Bitdefender - from step 6
    • Panda Scan - from step 6
    • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
    • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
    • HijackThis
    NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

    Hi,

    I followed all of your instructions. I was able to run all of the logs. Only the panda scan found something, I think.

    I've attached the first three logs and if I understand correctly, I have to send another reply with the remaining logs.

    Thank you,
    Janet

    Here is the newfiles.txt, but I'm having trouble uploading the analyse.exe file. I followed the directions several times, but it still says Invalid File.

    Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? Sorry for the confusion, I tried it several times.

    Thank you,
    Janet
