If I am asked to submit a Hijack file is it OK to do so after the computer has been shutdown or does it have to be immediately after running all the scans and files you suggested?

Did someone ask you to post a log? If so, why are you starting a new thread?
    What were your problems?

Have you completed all the steps of the READ ME FIRST?

No one has asked me. I am getting ready to run through your steps and just want to fully understand the procedure before I start. I know someone must tell me to submit it b4 I do and that I must do all the scans, etc., first. It was just a question.

After you answer mine? As I asked earlier, you never indicated what problems you are having nor did you indicate that you have completed ALL the steps in the READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

We don't just look at HijackThis logs for the heck of it. You need to supply us a reason for even wanting to post one.

If you run all the steps in the READ ME and still have a problem, tell us what your problems are and then follow the guidelines below for posting a HijackThis log.

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log as an attachment to your message (Do not post the log inline). All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT

OK I will run through the steps and then post a thread. I am new to the site and didn't quite understand the procedure. Sorry for the mix up.

No problem! Just make sure when you complete the steps that you tell us you have performed them and also tell us what problems you are having.
