Old Hard-drive Problems

I have an old Hard drive I'm trying to get some documents off of. The drive appears in the device manager/disk management/and bios, but not under "My Computer"

In disk management the drive appears on the lower section of "Disks" as Disk 2, but it doesn't appear in the upper panel where the volumes are shown.
The disk has 200GB of allocated (blue) space, and 9GB of unallocated data.
When I try to right click it an error pops up with "The operation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up to date." Refreshing the console has no effect.

Anyone have any idea what's wrong with it
