I'm in the midst of reformatting some machines in our one lab, and I am having a stupid issue. The on-board NIC cards will not accept any driver. These are IBM machines, Pentium IV with appropriate memory and all. I've downloaded the drivers straight from IBM and even tried the one from Intel, both come back saying they failed to load because they are corrupted. They tested fine on other machines in another lab.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Keep in mind this is a fresh Windows install, meaning the drives were reformatted before the OS was put on.

If any additional info is needed, please ask.

    Thanks for the forum's help.

It could be that the onboard NIC has failed. Go out and buy a new PCI ethernet card. You should be able to pick one up for under $25.00

While that is an excellent thought, I had that same revelation, and it still didn't work. Curiously enough, another issue has come up. There is an error in kernel32.dll when trying to install other programs, such as office. I am assuming these two issues go together, so I am trying a fresh install of Windows XP to see if that will solve it.

In the meantime, has anyone seen this kernel32.dll error before?

It would help to know the exact error message.

Have you tried running the system file checker?
