i have this really crappy socket 370 SIS motherboard with 16 MB of on board video. i want to be able to get a video card for it but i cant find a manual for it and i dont want to use 2 monitors. does anybody know where i can find a manual or give me a solution for putting a video card in it without having to use 2 monitors.

If I understand correctly, just get a pci video card (do some research for what you want it to do ) and use it and leave the onboard alone.

You don't need a second monitor. Like Tim says, just get a pci/agp card, stick it in, and plug in your existing monitor to the new card. Some Google searching once you find your motherboard should help you find out more information about it. Also, sometimes a motherboard will say what each socket/slot is for right on the board itself. This way, you can determin if you can use an AGP card or if you're stuck using a PCI card.

Forgot to add, you can turn off in your bios the onboard video once you have a new card installed. Least in every application I've seen, you can.

Could also download Everest. Might should tell you what motherboard you have. Looking on the board itself though, is definately the way to go. The links Dan Penny gave you will help you know what numbers to look for when checking for the model number.

first off its an OEM it most likly does not have an AGP slot. Pick up a 9200PCI or a 5700PCI card.

Chances arn't even remote that it has an AGP slot. But don't just go buy a PCI card without at least double checking if it can or can't use one. That's being lazy. There's plenty of old MB's out there that have AGP slots. Hell, nowdays unless you have PCI-express, your motherboard is considered 'old'.
