    Hi,
I am just wondering if it's okay to delete a few things. First one is...when you download a .zip file...then you extract the file to open it....now you have 2 folders sitting there. Is it okay to delete the original .zip folder since it's been extracted? In other words...the .zip folder that shows the "zipper" on the icon.
The second question is this...when ever I download anything from the internet, & I don't want to open or run the program, but I want to save it...I always save it to my desktop so I can find it easily & scan it for viruses. Once I open the program & install it I usually just send the folder, & installer icon to MY DOCUMENTS. Is it okay to delete the installer since the program is now installed?
I'm trying to clean out old stuff on my computer, & things that I know are taking up space. I'm not comfortable with cleaning things out of my registry myself especially old programs that I have uninstalled & they have left files behind. I don't want to mess anything up on my computer. As computer literate as I am...the 2 questions above are things I have never questioned & tried to find out if it's okay to delete them. I know there are lots of ways to clean up your computer, & I clean up my stuff regluarly, but I have never attempted to manually clean out my registry even after reading up on how to do it. I am just to scared I'll mess it up! Anyone have any good ideas on a program that can do this since I don't want to manually have to do it? Any help on these questions are very much appreciated! I am using Windows XP home edition in case that's something that will need to be known. Thanks again, & hope everyone had a wonderful & safe Memorial Day weekend!!! :)

You can delete the zip and the installer, your programs will work, but if you want to reinstall the programs you might need the installer,so it is a good idea to keep it.
You can save the installers into a cd so that you can use it again.
You can use ccleaner,it will clean your temp files and your registry.

Thank you so much for the quick reply! I will definitely take your advice on the ccleaner, & transfer the installers to a disk for the ones I want to keep. Hope you have a wonderful week! ;)

You can delete them if you wish, or you could save them to a CD/DVD in case you ever need to reinstall them. Sometimes programs get discontinued, replaced, go shareware from freeware, or otherwise become hard to find.

TweakNow Registry Cleaner is easy to use, and it will create a registry backup just in case there are problems.
