On Light on Computer comes on and then shuts off

I had a phone conference with someone who had a slow computer(win xp Pro).It said under "my computer" that 64mb was installed and she said that a 256mb stick was installed the other day.(so it should read 320mb)I told her to remove the 64mb in slot one and try the 256mb in slot one only and boot and see if it is list as 256mb.She did and now her computer on light comes on for a second and turns off and there is no lights and no noise..(I then had her just put in the 64mb..same thing..no power)I think the power supply is dead.Could I be missing anything?

 

The stick is most likely incompatible with what the machine is capable of using. Get the model of the machine, or motherboard, and check on Crucial.com to find the correct type. Or even if you can, check the manufacturer website, which would tell you also.

 

I did have her install the oem 64mb and still the same problem
