Is there something that I can download that will tell me when someone is calling me while I’m on line ?

 

Are you on dialup, or broadband?
Nothing available for dialup, I think.
Doesn't phone ring, as normal, on broadband?

obviously he has dial-up, when I used to have it it would tell me who was caling and disconnected my connection to answer the phone.Heres one that I used.

I remember when we used dial up we used to use callwave and that worked without any problems for me. The only problem is, it isn't free

Your modem must have the ability - ie USRobotics 5660A Winmodem has ICN. (Internet Call Notification). Also, your phone line must have, the "Call Waiting", and possibly "Caller ID" services from your phone company.

 

Here is a fac with some information about this topic. It's old, but the author in Feb '96 removed obsolete data from it, at least.
