One correction too far?

I've got two users on my desktop. Mine, I have fooled with, with the "Make your Windows etcetera (http://www.askvg.com/master-tutorial-to-make-your-windows-7-super-fast/) but now, when I type in the 'search programs and files' no list appears, you know when you type PAR... and PARAGON.EXE appears at the top? Well it doesn't. If I change user though, it does.
WhaT DID i BREAK?

Did you follow this guide for setting services to manual?

Try going back and set Windows Search to automatic then restart and see if you get the Search box back.

 

Yes, that's the one. and not for the first time. I did use it on mine and friends computers, speeding up noticeably, but evidently this time I made a mistake. What bothers me more is that my wife's side (that nobody uses) has the search function working. I mean when you apply the changes, you are applying to the whole computer, so, why the difference?

Do you have Windows Search in those two locations?

Are your symptoms the same or do not get any "searching" at the top of the search box?

I guess some services must be user dependent. I'm really not sure how that works as I have never drilled down into services. It just seems from your original link only the services changes could be at fault.

 

I am returning Services to the original status, by two or three items at a time, so we can know what was causing the mess. I'll keep you posted.
