I have 3 monitors hooked up to my PC. 3 times recently, one of the monitors turned itself off, then within a couple seconds I got a blue screen crash saying I had a video TDR failure, and the problem was in the system file nvlddmkm.sys.

I thought maybe nvlddmkm.sys had gotten corrupted, so maybe I could fix the problem by redownloading and reinstalling this file. But I can’t currently find a copy of this file anywhere on my PC, so I’m not sure this approach would work at all. Anyway, if it was a problem with a system file, wouldn’t this affect all 3 monitors, not just one, and not always the same monitor?

Maybe the monitor itself is going bad? Does anyone know of any diagnostic software by which I could test it? Or does anyone have a suggestion about what I should do to fix this problem?

So in any case, I’m not sure if it’s a software or hardware problem, but because of the reference to the system file, I’m guessing it’s a software problem. If I was wrong about that, I apologize for posting this question in the software forum.

Currently, I have disconnected the ‘bad’ monitor to prevent further crashes, but I’d really like to get all 3 monitors working again.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
