One Or More Of My Audio Filters Is Screwed

Every time I try to play a video file, I get no sound and the video just stops at the end even though all my players are set to loop. I'm also seeing my ac3 and ffdshow icons appearing in the taskbar even though they don't usually appear. Can someone help me? My audio works fine otherwise. I'm able to watch videos on YouTube, just not in any of my media players. I just bought and installed SolveigMM Video Splitter and the problem started shortly after so I'm guessing that has something to do with it.

    There's no edit button? Anyway,

EDIT: My video screensaver program is also affected. The video plays but no audio and it just stops at the end so I just get a still frame until I exit the screensaver.

Just found that VLC can loop a video but still can't get any sound.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling ffdshow and ac3filter and then restarting the computer. Didn't help.

Is there no one around now who knows anything about audio problems?

Guess not. OK, well, ANYWAY... I tried uninstalling SolveigMM Video Splitter and that didn't work. So then, out of desperation, I did a system restore. That did the trick. Except that I got this dialog box after the computer restarted.

Whatever the stuff in the dialog box says, it didn't stop my sound from working again as usual so I'm happy enough.

The dialog box refers to an Avast file.
Ensure the Engine and virus definitions, and Program are up to date.
