Alright, I need the experts in networking to chew on this one for a bit and see if there is a solution.
I have 5 PCs (Windows XP Pro SP2 with Zone Alarm Suite). I have them all networked and talking to one another just fine.
I have some hard drives that I wanted to utilize so I bought a 4 bay HDD rack and installed all my spare HDD's into the unit. I wanted to store my graphics on one drive, fonts on one drive, etc. and wanted to be able to access this any of those HDD's in the unit from any of my computers through the home network.
I have full file sharing on all PCs and after hooking up via USB, the 4 bay unit to a host PC and activating full sharing on each drive in the unit...the icons show in the network and groups, all well and fine to this point.
Now, when I go to another computer to access any of the drives on the 4 bay unit, they show up and are showing in the group, but when I try to access any of the drives, I get the message that says I do not have permission to access and I need to contact admin.
On the host PC that is connected to the 4 drive unit, I am able to access folders and drives on all other networked PCs and drag files from them into any of the 4 drives in the rack unit.
I tried the 4 bay unit on a different PC with same results.

Why am I able to go one direction from the host PC and cannot access the 4 bay unit from other PCs on the network?

I can access the drives and folders between all the other PCs, even the drives and folders of the host PC connected to the 4 bay unit, but not the drives in the 4 bay unit themselves even though they show up in the network and group.
I have the firewalls and Zone Alarm all off and have advanced file sharing set to allow everyone full access to all, everything including the router and all PCs have been rebooted, etc.
I am at a loss here and am really getting frustrated. There has got to be some software or something that can find out why I am not able to access these drives.....????
    Thank you.

Have you set the four drives to sharing mode, and given the "everyone" category full access?

In reference my prior posting I am noticing that on all of the drives I am trying to access from other computers when you look at the icon label...the drives are showing a drive letter in brackets at the end of the icon name.

ie: m4F (x) on Mast... please see the circled items on attached screenshots.

When I double-click to access any of these, I get the displayed message on screen shot 2.

Is this showing me some direction as to where the problems lie?
What are those drive letters in brackets telling me?
Is this a naming issue causing problems with the path???

Please, Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks a ton!

Sorry, the screenshots are too small for me to read.
