Recently, when I installed a Seagate external hard drive (since returned because it wasn't big enough), Seagate hooked me up for 200 GB of free cloud storage with Microsoft OneDrive. This is the deal where you put your My Documents, My Music, My Pictures, My Videos, and/or whatever else of your data you want into the OneDrive folder, and then immediately your data automatically exists on their servers as well as on your own computer, and your data is updated in real time as you work on it. It seemed like such a great way to secure my data without even having to do backups.

But now I get an email from "OneDrive Weekend Recap". Here's what it says:

You're receiving this email to keep you updated on activity on your OneDrive account.
If you don't want to receive these emails in the future, you can
unsubscribe from emails about your weekend recap.

    and

We'll occasionally send you a recap based on photos that you uploaded to OneDrive during a weekend. To share the photos we selected with friends and family, you can just forward this email.

And at that point they show me a bunch of my own photos.

Well, I don't want to unsubscribe, because until I make other arrangements, I want to have some idea of what they're doing. But they did ask for feedback. Here's mine:

So then, you're looking over everything I store with you?! I guess I need to find a more private, secure place to store my data. Maybe it was just a computer program that looked at my files. But YOU reading this are a human being. Tell your corporate bosses I don't appreciate this invasion of my privacy AT ALL!! And on a purely personal note, DROP DEAD!!

Oh, and I'm going to report this at the software forums I frequent and to everyone I know. In fact, I think I'll run it by a couple lawyer friends of mine.

Perhaps infantile, and of course I knew better than to put anything sensitive on OneDrive, should I ever possess such delicate information (maybe all those launch codes I hacked...?), but the fact that they seemed so utterly oblivious to the notion that some people might object to this just really set me off. Yeah, I'm forever beneath their notice, no matter what I say or do, but perhaps this all will at least amuse you guys, and who knows, maybe some people at this forum hadn't thought of this...
