I installed online armor but whenever I try to access any web site it does not allow me to do so. The online armor icon (sheild) at the bottom right of the tool bar pops up with c:\Metamail Inc\Metamail Reader\MMviewer.exe is blocked. I then diable online armor and it allows me to connect to web sites. What should I do?

    Thank you.

"Allow" it. You must have blocked it at set up or at some other time. Check it out under Configurations>Firewall>Program Access if it's there. If so, highlight it and click "allow" If not there, look in the Programs and if there do same as per above.

Here's a link about how to use Online Armor. http://www.tallemu.com/webhelp3/FWStd.html#fwsettings

I found MMviewer.exe blocked under programs. I highlighted it and said trust and it deleted the record. I am still not being able to connect to any website until I deactivate online armor.

I think that it must appear under the trusted programs now. Do you have the box ticked under "Hide trusted programs"? Untick the box and it should be there.

Now, when you installed Online Armor did you assign all your existing programs as "trusted"?

    Yes it's thereas trusted.

When I first installed online armor it kept prompting me when I opened applications and I would say allow to everything I knew. At that time I would be able to access sites. This only started happening when I installed an update. I think I hit a key I should not have. You are dealing with a semi literate computer user over here.:confused

As far as I know there are no new updates of Online Armor version 3.0.0.190 Did you download the Beta version 3.1 here at MG? There may be some unexpected problems with Beta's, unless one is an expert and knows how to deal with these.

If so, I'd recommend uninstalling the Beta version and installing version 3.0.0.190 FREE here: https://www.tallemu.com/downloads.html It's the third one down the list. It'll take you to download.com

As for uninstalling Online Armor, please follow the instructions here: http://support.tallemu.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=3211&highlight=uninstall+Online+Armor Reboot after all instructions have been followed.

Install Online Armor and let it set up all your programs as "trusted". Be sure that your computer is clean.

BTW: you may want to read some about it. Standard Mode is free, while Advanced Mode is not. http://www.tallemu.com/webhelp3/FWStd.html#fwsettings

I am in the process on reinstalling online armor as you suggested. There are 4 IE extensions I am not sure about.

Browser helper object jqs_plugin.dll JQSIEStartDetectorImpl Class (6.0.110.3)
IE menu extension SEARCH.HTML &AOL Toolbar search
Browser helper object IEplugin.dll MCIEPlugin Class (3.10.000.0)
    Browser helper object jp2ssv.dll Java(TM)Plugin 2 SSV helper (6.0.110.3)

Online Armor has two main components:

    1. Firewall: It prompts me whenever a new or updated program wants to use the internet, I click either block or allow. There's usually a checkbox asking if I want to 'create a rule' so the program is always allowed to connect... I check it unless I'm still deciding in case of a new application... Also, under options->Firewall->Rules, make sure your browser is allowed to use all ports, or at least a whole load. In my case, firefox.exe is allowed to use ports 0-65366 for TCP OUT, and several ports for UDP IN/OUT. I'm not sure how those ranges are determined by Online Armor, but you can set them manually too. Most programs I've given access are only enabled for one or two ports; usually port 80 for TCP OUT and 53 for UDP IN.

    2. Program guard: I keep this option unchecked most of the time, but if checked, it can block programs from running (not just from connecting to the internet), or from starting other programs (like a web browser). It can be very useful for extra protection, but I got tired of it prompting me about my new installs, updates, and sometimes causing conflicts with my antivirus, etc. - especially I wasn't there and some legit program tried to run. Make sure you haven't enabled your web browser on the Program Guard list, but blocked it under the Firewall list.
