Every time I run the Windows XP Cleaning Procedure to clean out the spyware/malware from my computer, as soon as the procedure finishes (successfully, mind you) only one instance of Internet Explorer opens when I click the IE icon, IE quickstart icon, of choose it frrom the Start -> Programs -> Internet Explorer. Another window can open if I click a link on a web page, but not the other ways.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Are you saying that you are running the procedure more than once? Why? And if you thought you were having malware problems, why aren't you attaching the requested logs?

Are you implying that it is breaking your ability to open multiple IE windows and then you fix it and then when you run the cleaning procedure again, it is broken again????? If not, why do you say "everytime I run the ......."?

Sounds like a program configuration or registry setting issue to me which would better served by posting in the Software Forum.

Sorry for not being clearer...didn't know how to explain. When I am aware of malware on my system, I run the cleaning procedure to irradicate it. I do not attach logs because the system is clean by then. Should I be running something else to help clean my system or is the cleaning procedure sufficent?

Yes, it is breaking my ability to open multiple IE windows. I don't know how, or when, but eventually I am able to open multiple windows. I thought that maybe one of the programs in the cleaning procedure is the culprit and that someone from this forum may recognize the symptom.

    Thanks for your help.

You should be attaching the 4 requested logs to really verify you are clean and they are require if you are going to be posting here about malware problems

If it fixes on its own, then it is not related to the cleaning procedures. In addition if it was, everyone would be having a problem,

Here are the files. You requested 4, but the Manage Attachment function only allows for 3 (max) to be attached.

Yes but in another message you can attach the 4 th one. This was explained in the READ & RUN ME cleaning instructions which stated the below:

I need the last log to continue; however it does not appear thus far that you are having malware problems.

Your logs are clean, but you should do the below.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    Java(TM) 6 Update 10

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {C17590D2-ECB4-4b15-8820-F58798DCC118} - (no file)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

After a reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
