only loading in safe mode

Friends computer won't load, it gets to load your personal settings screen and left loading here, but after 2 hours it was still trying to load.
I've managed to get in now by going into safe mode (still very slow) and after checking i don't think she's had any antivirus software running, only has lavasoft adware installed, run that and it found approx 1400 items. As its in safe mode i'm not sure what to do now, i'm using my computer to type this.
Also, i don't think she has saved her documents to disc, its a dell dimension 5000. Your help is desperately required - many thanks.

 

A trip to the malware forum would be the safest bet!

follow the guidelines in the 'read and run me first' sticky first, and then go from there. It may help to have a breeze through all the 'sticky' threads available as well (identified by the little red tacks on the threads)
Be patient, and help shall arrive!
