Only Room For One Monitor

I was hoping someone could give me a suggestion on this. I will be either building an XPC or buying one of those mini macs for my sons room. He has a small computer desk with room for one monitor. I need a monitor that will output his computer, VCR and game consol through a 3 input component switch.

I was thinking of just going with Svideo out from the computer to the switch then to a normal TV but the resolution of a TV I find is just not exceptable for running his schooling software. Any suggestions?

 

i think if i understand this ..you want a monitor that can be used for a t.v. a console for games and also a computer.....i can remember amiga use to have a rca cable input ....is that right? ....i think if you wanted to spend the doe you could find a screen that will still beable to plug in rca cables to it .but bucks ...em i getting that right ?

 

I suggest inverting the idea, and using S-Video on the monitor, with a converter from the games and VCR, if they don't have S-Video plugs.

 

Right. I want a monitor that I can run all these things into. I've been doing some deep digging on newegg and I think I found what I need. It is an LCD for about$350 that has Anolog, DVI and Svideo inputs. This might work id it allows switching.

If the TV, Video Games, and Computer each have one outlet, it should simply pull from which ever is turned on, or connected.
