Is this okay to be occurring? Or should MSJVM not be showing up there since I uninstalled it?

Also, I had to reinstall SpyBot so that I could install the SDHelper function. I now have it enabled, but still have TeaTimer disabled. What's your opinion on TeaTimer (I'm curious)?

I'll consider getting Microsoft AntiSpyware, I hear that it works quite well.

Oh, and I currently have all available updates for Windows except for SP2. I will be installing SP2 sometime this coming week.

I'm not sure why you still see MSJVM. Do you mean in Tools, Internet Options, Security, Custom Level? How did you uninstall MSJVM?

I do not use Teatimer (as stated in the How to Protect thread). Too many people have had issues with it hogging resources?

you could consider using Mozilla Firefox as a browswer instead of Internet Explorer, if you aren't using it already...

i saw you direct him to the sticky but his follow post made no mention of changing his browser (only that he adjusted his Active X settings)...

on a side note, regarding System Restore... since most spyware infections will likely affect it anyway, should i have System Restore set ON or OFF... i've really never utilized it (didn't think this question warranted a new thread)

System Restore should normally be enabled once your system is clean of any problems. That way you can have clean restore points to restore to if desired. Obviously you have to know when you are clean and when you got infected in order to make use of this.

But note that restoring to an old restore point impacts registry settings, it will not remove files from your PC that are related to any malware. So while restoring to another point in time may (or may not) disable the current malware problems, it will not remove all traces from your PC.

I uninstalled MSJVM using the steps provided in the "READ ME FIRST" list (near the bottom). It can be found between "Downloads" and "Miscellaneous" listed as "Microsoft VM".

Also, I do use Firefox, but am still slightly partial to IE for some reason. When IE gets tabs, and if it becomes more secure, I may switch back to IE.

Get all of your Windows Updates and then see if it is still there. You are not up to date.
