Oosu Settings Changed?

I'm fairly sure someone here told me about OOSU and it certainly helped stop those almost daily " updates " that Win 10 forces on us. The program did what I wanted it to do for about a year. Although I don't use Firefox as much as I once did I kept getting messages that updates were necessary to fix security leaks. I launched FF and selected update. When it finished it suggested restarting my computer. After I did that my start menu changed and the only choices were update and turn off or update and restart. I didn't have the time to update and restart so I chose update and turn off. Then when I turned the PC back on there was an updating screen which had a count down or count up indicator and the updates took longer than I ever remembered. When the desktop returned it seemed to be different.

This morning when I clicked on the start menu to get to FreeCell I noticed at the top of the menu " new programs added since my last start " ( or something to that effect ) there was 2 MacAfee icons: one for the program and one to uninstall. Keeping with the protocols I've followed for years, I uninstalled it since I already have an antivirus program that seems to do what I want it to do without too much intrusion.

All that said, I opened OOSU and noticed that there seemed to be changed to the program. There are so many choices in OOSU that I can not be sure what was checked exactly before this MacAfee installation but I did the best I could and of course had to restart. That went well but I have to wonder if somehow allowing Firefox to update if OOSU was changed? Also VERY strange was a message that OOSU gave me about setting a restore point. When I went to do that the biggest surprise came that I had NO RESTORE POINTS. That is incorrect because I do set them from time to time so something happened during this update and my guess is that it deleted my restore points because if there were any points set I would have gone back to last week before I made that FF update.

Does anyone have a clue as to what happened?

Updates have become one of the biggest nightmares that I deal with my computers and smartphones. To me THEY are the Virus.

You have to check and, if changes have happened, re apply OOShutUp settings after every Windows Update. It tells you the changes and offers the 'revert changes' option. It's simple but you must pay attention to it.
