open/close cd/dvd drawer

The face of my cd/dvd drawer has come off. Some of the little tabs must have broken off. I can't put it back on. Is there a way that I can open the drawer? If I fiddle with it enough it will open and of course closing is no problem. All I want is maybe a desktop icon that will open it. Does anyone have any ideas? I would really appreciate some advise.

I have a Gateway M-Series computer with Windows Vista. Thanks

I don't know about an icon, but if you go to "My Computer" and right click on the cd/dvd drive, one of the options should be "eject". That will open the drawer. (I don't know of a quicker way than that. )

I have this program, called cupholder.exe, sitting on the desktop of my notebook computer because the CD tray is hard to open.

just click the icon and the CD opens. For me, the close does not work but this isn't a problem. Closing the tray is easier than trying to open it.

Scroll down to :
DRIVE OPEN (EJECT) and CLOSE (LOAD)
open — opens the system's default CDROM drive tray.
Example: wizmo open

close — closes the system's default CDROM drive tray.
Example: wizmo close

This can be used as 1 or 2 shortcuts, eg: wopen and wclose.
I could never get wizmo close to work,though. :-D
