'Open with' issue

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I had an email from my Aunty who had a problem with her desktop computer. It has lost internet connection, although her laptop has not and is on the same network. I gave her a few ideas such as using the microsoft troubleshooting tools and a system restore but to no avail. She then sent me this:-

Followed your suggestions but no joy.

When I click on Internet Explorer a box comes up with the following.
Open With
Choice the programme you want to open this file.
File: iexplore.exe
Recommended Programme Internet Explorer.
When I click O.K I get a file download security warning saying do I want to run or save this file, name: ssvagent.exe. When I click run it goes back to the first box.
Also another new thing is when I click on Hotmail it comes up Firefox is not currently set as your Default Browser ? would you like it set as your Default Browser.
When I tried to set up Systems Restore the above box comes up again.

I have asked her to send me the details of her desktop and can post once i have it.

Does anyone maybe have any ideas to the cause of this problem and maybe even a solution? I though maybe opening a new admin account and transfering data over to it from old one, but would that even solve the issue?

It sounds like your Aunt has not lost the internet. More likely she has a malware issue instead.
