opening ports on a ZyXEL Router

Been trying to set this up and cant..

I have a ZyXEL P-660HW-T1 v3 Router and im trying to get the xbox working,

I have turned off the router firewall,

and added 53,80,88,1863,3074 ports to port forward section,

port checker still shows they are closed, and with my xbox it still shows nat type strict

I gave my xbox the ip 192.168. 1. 34 and set that for portforward too

anyone any ideas?

You should not have to open any ports for the xbox. The router should open and close them as needed automatically.

 

i was told to open them cos my NAT type is strict.

All routers use a strict NAT enforcement. Again, you should not have to open any ports. Shut down everything, then reboot in this order: Modem, Router, Switch if you have one, Then Xbox. And then try again.

The one thing that I would make sure, is that multi-cast is on in advanced LAN setup, and UPnP is enabled. That should work. If you tossed the userguide for the router, you can get it from http://www.zyxel.com.

 

ive tried all that, still not working, it doesnt bother me too much, just would like to get it working
