Opinion on new stuff for my computer

You guys all seem to know what your talking about and what stuff is good and what sucks, so I figured Id ask what you guys thought before I bought some stuff to throw in my computer.

Ive been looking at:

1) NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX card (theres like 4 different manufacturers putting them out, whos the best to buy?)

2) Creative Labs X-FI Fatal1ty Edition sound card

I just wanna be able to play all my old games and any new ones that come out without any problems, and not have to keep buying new stuff all the time.
I think its better to spend it all now and not have to worry about anything for a while.

Price doesnt really matter that much, so if you guys know something better let me know.

Just how 'old' are your 'old games'?

 

I still play a lot of the origional Rainbow 6, Diablo 2, AvP - so i guess around 7 or 8 years
