Opinions on Kaspersky Active Virus Shield free

    Hi Geeks. Hope you're all having a geeky day! Anyhow, I searched the boards here pretty thoroughly and couldn't find any Major Geek opinions of the Kaspersky Active Virus Shield now being offered free by AOL. I went to (another place) and read a bunch of ops, but was hoping for some 'critiques from the geeks.' (BTW I just coined that phrase.) I've read about licensing probs, and internet access probs after install, so I'm not gonna uninstall my AVG free just yet. Thanks in advance for any input.

    Kaspersky is a good program! I'm a little confused though! I thought AOL packaged McAfee as their antivirus program.

    However, I would avoid anything that has been integrated into AOL's software. You would be better off having the real full package of software from the original creator.

    Hey Chas. Thanks for responding. Yeah, it's pretty new, only available here since Aug. 9. I read reviews @ download.com (don't know if I'm allowed to say that here!). Some great, some terrible, and some just showing (probable) user inability. I am also VERY skeptical about getting bundled into difficult to remove AOL software. And the EULA has already raised lots of eyebrows.

    I would avoid AOL like the plague. If you must use AOL, then just avoid everything else from them. Don't install any of their packaged stuff .
