Opinions On New Laptop Computer

Hi!
I'm requesting your help, I would like some opinions on this laptop computer for my Dad. He mainly surfs, e-mails, just your basic stuff like myself. I don't think he'll be into gaming or anything like that. Please, let me know what you think. Thanks very much!

I wouldn't call that a basic computer-- not for a laptop, anyway. Sounds like his son has some designs on using it.

His daughter is jealous, he's getting a brand new toy, and can stretch out on the couch with a laptop, unlike my desktop.

Hey Oooops betcha Dads computer is not as “Hot” as his daughter’s snicker, just couldn’t resist that one. Two suggestions visa vi the Compaq Laptop; One Compaq and others are getting worse at bundling a whole pile of C**ppy software as demos, one being “Norton”; Two is I believe they still have that funky restore partition and NO CD’s or DVD’s with the programs. However you could and I believe still can get the programs on CD/DVD for a small fee, that is worth every cent.

Then make a bootable CD, and reformat the HD, bye bye garbage, Hello the programs he wants.

My computer is definitly smoking (not literally,... yet anyways!) reached a CPU high of 73c, an an Aux high of 49c last night while running an AVG AntiVirus Test. Promptly closed all programs, and let the fan run until it cooled back down. My gosh, a mini furnace it is! lol

Heard a noise this afternoon, bf says it sounds like a ball bearing. Oh, can't wait till Tuesday when I head to the fix it shop!
