Opps - Deleted something now windows xp wont start

Hi,

Now what? Deleted something. My Dell Inspiron now barely starts. I get the "Dell" logo and then it goes to a windows wont start, reload an .exe file. But dont know how to reload that file.

So,

Tried putting my windows xp disk in to reload windows as a whole. It wont go. So put the emergency start up disk in and that gets me to somewhere...but i really dont know.

Can I reload windows xp or another operating system from the dos prompt that I can get to via the emergency disk?

Really dump with computers here

What would be the command for the XP disk I can put in the cd-rom

d: run? I know its not that...but?

or I have older operating system W-95 and can I load that from the A prompt?

Did you try getting into windows with safe mode.
To install windows xp,you have to set bios to boot from cd,then setup will start.

 

If you can get a boot menu (probably pressing F8 at first beep, you may be able to select safe mode and do the system restore from there, without a CD).

Or find your docs or read the screen carefully on startup and see what key (probably F2) to press when you get the first beep, to get into setup mode. Make sure it is set to boot from CD before hard drive, then boot with your recovery disk. You should not have to reinstall, but rather do a "system restore" and backup to a point a day or two old.
