Optiarc DVD writer not working

    Hi,

    I have an Acer Aspire 5738z laptop with an Optiarc dvd writer drive built in. I am having problems burning discs with it - both cds and dvds. I believe this could be a firmware problem, tho not sure.

    Could someone advise please?

    My friend had an Acer laptop that would not burn disks either. I found a site with a firmware that would work and fix the problem - it was not the official firmware, it had to be run with a switch to force it in but it worked. Google the model number of the drive.
    This is a use at your own risk update!
