    Hi,
Sorry but I`m having a senior moment!!

Basically its this-- my hdd is sata, which means my two optical drives are running on ide channel 2, as master and slave, leaving ide channel 1 un-occupied.
My question is would my optical drives benefit from being connected to individual ide channels?

    TIA.

You might see a little performance increase if you do a lot of disk copying>:)

perhaps, but only if you were using them simultaneously (copying a DVD directly to a recordable DVD).

Even so, i'm pretty sure the read and write speeds of optical drives dont even come close to exceeding the bandwidth of a single IDE channel, so any results would be very minimal. (personally i just wouldnt want the extra cable in there ;-) )

Thanks for that advice, I guess I will just leave things as they are.

    Thank You.
