Optimization.

I have three computers, each of which will be used to video/photo edit. Im trying to optimize them so they dont give me any problems and go as fast as they can. I use spybot, lavasoft, norton internet security, registry mechanic5.2. I wanted to know if there are any other easy tweaks that wouldnt sacrifice usibility, but might streamline the OS.

 

We'll need to know what OS you're running before we can be of much help, but, on most windows machines, the following things will help.

Use winpatrol to manage your RAM usage: http://winpatrol.com/
Almost every computer is running a ton of processes that drain resources unecessarilly.

Do a super comprehensive virus scan with trend micro online: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
You don't need to do this more than a couple of times a year

Norton internet security is a good utility, but if you want something a little lighter on the resources, you can go with a combination of AVG free:

and windows defender:

Also go to Control Panel > System > click the "Advanced" tab > Under "Preformance" click "Settings." > select "Adjust for best preformance." > Click apply and ok to leave the Preformance Settings window > click Apply and OK to leave the system properties window. This will turn off most of the XP graphics, and leave you with an appearence similar to windows 2000.
