actually reports showed torture was not only useless but counterproductive. The info that had any real value always came from what I heard called "civil interrogation techniques" aka not torture.

the guy was waterboarded over 180 times and they didnt get anything useful. Its unconstitutional and everything points to it being ineffective anyways.

I don't know why this has to be treated in a rabid political fashion . . .

It is very true Obama deserves kudos for giving the go ahead for the operation - after all he is the sitting CIC and would have, fairly or unfairly, carried the onus had the the plan failed.

It is also very true that this was a multi-year, multi-administration, and multi-service effort . . . and the heroes here are the boots on the ground that were sent to take out the evil that was Bin Laden.

It cannot be ignored that the Obama adminstration has kept in place personnel and policies created by the Bush administration that pertain to the war on terror (thank God). Unlike a lot of people, I don't fault Obama for not living up to any of those promises he espoused and based much of his campaign on. It's ok to be a starry-eyed idealist . . . but have courage enough to adjust your world view when reality hits. I am happy Obama did that, at least in maintaining the framework that the previous administration set up concerning military actions. Also, to his credit, he did give a nod to Bush.

I am unhappy with Obama's performance as president for a plethora of reasons; this is not one of them.

I'm just happy an evil man is dead, and justice has been done. I hope this gives the families of his victims some measure of comfort.

It's really sad, but I truly believe there are a few that would have liked to have seen this mission fail. I don't like what I'm seeing in my country. This is not the country that I have loved and severed. I have never seen this much hate before and I don't like it!! No matter what Obama does, it's not good enough for some. I was brought up and taught to respect the president. You don't have to agree with Obama but please stop your hate and your lies before you cause some crazy person to do some thing terrible. When it comes time to vote, then cast your vote and then except who the people have said they want to lead our country. I put up with Bush for 8 years; give Obama 4 and vote him out; but for Gods sake get someone besides Palin or Trump to run against him.

As for all of those who are fond of saying that Obama has merely continued the policies of
the previous administration, and there are many NOW who are doing so, I believe they are mistaken.

For example, Obama was opposed to the war in Irag which was begun by the previous administration.
During his campaign, he vowed to end that war and bring our combat troops home, which he has done.
The time frame he gave initially was not met due to the concerns of and advise from the commanders in that theater.
He also said that, just as we were CareLess getting into that war, we should be CareFul getting out.
This is the policy he is following.

That is not what the Bush administration did.

Obama said he would put an end to the illegal use of torture with interrogation techniques at Gitmo, which he did.

That is not what the Bush administration did.

During Obama's campaign, he vowed to hunt down Osama Bin Laden and have him captured or killed, which he has done.

That is not what the Bush administration did.

Over the last couple of days, I have seen replays of video clips where President Bush said
he was no longer concerned about Bin Laden, did not know where he was and did not care.
In essence, the Bush administration gave up on that search and capture.

That is not what the Obama administration did.

During Obama's campaign, he said he would take efforts to communicate with the Muslim world and Arab leaders
and establish better relations with them. Also, he said he would work to open constructive dialog
with those nations that oppose us. This he has done and in fact began those efforts immediately
after taking office.

That is not what the Bush administration did.

The Bush administration followed a stated policy of no communication with certain "enemies" of the
United States as dialog was considered unnecessary and inappropriate.

The differences between the two administrations on international policies alone are many and they
are striking. The reputation of the United States and the perception of the United States'
international policies worldwide has improved greatly since Obama took office.

That is not what the Bush administration did.

Very true and well thought out. It's nice to see the truth instead of some idiot just rambling on. Our president is different in many ways and it's quite obvious to me why some hate him; and we all know the answer to that, don't we.

This may be true, but IMO, again IMO, if I were being tortured, I'd tell a person almost anything. As to wether the "so called" torture techniques worked..... we can onlt speculate, maybe the information was given during a "civil" interview, for fear of a more severe interview. Who knows. I would go to any means to protect him, my wife and my daughter. I don't care what anyone thinks, they will all get what they deserve, if not in this life, definetly another. Others have been tried in other country's for this very same thing. There were many that wanted Channey and Bush tried; but Obama said NO, and I agree. I've always supported our president, and especially our troops. And I can sleep a little more peacefully knowing the world is a safer place for my son to grow up with Bin Laden not in it.

I have a grand daughter that thinks the government should support her She's 18 and got two kids. Her live in boy friend works part time at Mc Donalds. My wife pays there rent. you can believe what you want, but even for those out there who are accepting what the US Government is telling you...can you not at least admit that they cannot get their story straight and that it seems just a tad fishy not to prove that they in fact did get him the way they said they did, but just "Take our word for it."?

I have to agree with you though Motc they never seem to have their story straight at the start.I wouldn't go as far as to say bin laden wasn't killed but it does seem to be psy-op tactic to drip feed the truth slowly to limit public outrage.
