They gave me Hydrocodone (Generic for Vicodin) and its like nothing to me. Do mouth wounds heal quick?

You'll be better in a day or two, NJ. Definitely, don't smoke. It will cause dry socket and not heal properly. And yes, it will heal fairly fast.

I'd love to try some hydrocodone "for pain"we don't get it over here,I've had a few teeth out and after the teeth have been pulled I was fine no pain,it still suprises me they give a strong narcotic like vicodin for that kind of pain.

All I ever got from a dentist was tylenol 3. When I had surgery that when they gave me the hydrocodone.

When you can eat, eat soft stuff like mashed potatoes or ice cream:drool Thats what they told my sister when she had teeth pulled.

    Our painkillers go,paracetamol,ibuprofen,tramadol,codeine,morphine thats it.

Codeine is only good for mild to moderate pain and they only give morphine when your in hospital or people can get oral morphine but only in cases such as cancer,in general pain treatment is still one of medicines greatest challenges.

I'm eating chicken noodle soup right now lol

My mother has tried every pain killer out and none can stop her pain she has daily. and i think somehow strong pain killers don't work for me because what he gave me only works for about 30mins or less and i can only take one every 4 hours.

    What is dry socket?

Just a hunch ... Without doing a search on this, I think a dry socket is referring to the fact that the cigarette inhalation process will dry out the inside of your mouth/incision area more so than through regular breathing. So the affected area won't have the necessary moisture for the healing process.

It's where the blood clot doesn't form properly and oh it hurts!!!! You can usually tell right away if it happens, the pain is worse then the original tooth ache. Try rinsing with warm salt water, that helps in healing.

I have had teeth pulled out on 5 occassions (3 times for wisdom teeth) and they have never given me any post-op pain relief.

So i have always just jumped in my car and lit up a smoke straight away (next best thing)
maybe thats why they generally take a while to heal  :D
