out of ideas for solution

I just sold a friend my netgear mr814 11Mb wi-fi router and it worked fine for what i am told was a couple days.

there are two computers connected wirelessly and one with a hard line.

one of the wirelless(new dell laptop) cannot connect at all, it appears that it sees the router but no signal

the other is a hp desktop running Me(yeah i know) and it is connected to the router fine but cannot send email of any kind(yahoo, aol, etc.)

I use mac filtering.

I was going to try resetting the router today.

i just want to fix it where i dont have to go over there three times a week.
I mean i never had this much trouble with it.
jeesh.

 

I would definately reset the router and start from scratch to eliminate any custom settings that worked for you but may not work for him.. then report back.

I reset the router, reentered mac addys and still no luck.
i tried hooking in directly to the dsl modem and i could send email.
so there is something funny goin on with the router or could it be blocking smtp access by default.

its a netgear mr814v2.

 

got all the latest drivers and firmware?

 

im working on double checking that. shoul be.
its only web mail that wont send.
out look works fine with the bell south smtp server.

 

i talked to another guy having the same problem. he has bellsouth dsl and cant send web mail.
