Im having problems with my outlook 03. When I go into calendar to save something i get a message that pops up saying something like interface failure, please restart outlook. the same thing happens when i try to add a contact as well. ive tried to look around on google searches but i couldnt find a solution. anyone have this happen before or know of a good place to look?

    Hi

    Which windows version you using?

Also what is the full message as that will help be accurate, although I get the feeling that the full message is "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook"

Then causes are a damages Outlook 2003, so from the Help menu you could run Detect and Repair, also very likely is that your .PST is corrupted, especially with you not being able to add contacts or I would imagine even delete old emails etc so you could run the ScanPST tool thats added with Outlook, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287497

*may also need to unhide folders, .psts are hidden files so you have to unhide hidden files. Open Windows Explorer folder and select Tools > Folders Options > View Check "Show hidden files and folders" and also untick "Hide protected Operating System Files" Click OK.

hey thanks for the reply. Im using win xp pro. youre right on with the error message as well. the weird thing is is that it works in my office just fine using outlook 07, but on her outlook 03 it has problems. i will try what you suggested and get back to you.

    Thanks again,
    Steve B.

I tried all that you suggested and still no go. Any other ideas? I might just install outlook 07 tomorrow morning and see if that gives me any good news.

    Thanks again

I think I figured out why this is happening. She does not have an .ost file in her data files which, from what i've seen when i look around at other people outlooks, everyone else has. She has an .ost file in the C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook folder, but i can't figure out how to get it in the data files area. any advice?
