This may be a stupid question, but I can't find the answer anywhere. I use Outlook 2003 for my POP3/SMTP email account. I set up multiple personal file folders for sorting my important email. According to Microsoft, if you move an email to a folder, then it should be removed from the server. That is not happening in my case. I move emails and they still show up on the server when I check my email from the web. My web inbox is filling up and I am running out of space. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks - Kate

One option is, in the Outlook Inbox window, click the <Tools> drop down menu, then <Services>. Highlight (by clicking on it) the e-mail profile in the box that you are using, then click the <Properties> button.

Click on the <Advanced> tab and at the bottom of the window which pops up are delivery options. You can chose, but unchecking the box, not to leave a copy of mail on the server. That way you can't repeatably download it. HTH :)

You're absolutely right, but will this work if she's moving the unopened message into a folder? That would be my first suspicion. I know thats how our pop3 accounts will work. If you move an unopened message to folder, it will still appear in the inbox via the web interface. You have to open them to download them from the server.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think you understand what I want to do. Typical situation is this:
I open my outlook inbox, read my mail, delete what I don't want to keep, sort the keeper emails into folders, and leave some messages in my inbox that I want to work with later. I do not want to download all my messages onto my computer and off the server because I want to be able to access the emails still in my inbox from anywhere. I do want the emails that I have filed away as "keepers" to be downloaded from the server and onto my computer so they are not taking up space.
I used to do this with all my emails on my old computer and did not have a problem. I got a new work computer and that is when I started noticing that my filed emails were remaining on the server with all my active inbox items.

Lev - I tried doing what you suggested, but there is not services option on my tools menu in my outlook inbox. Am I looking in the wrong place?

    Thanks again for your help.
