Outlook 2003/Vista Issues

I'm having trouble with Outlook 2003 running on my Vista machine. I can send and receive with no problems. I even got past the authentication issue every time it would start up. Now it seems that some of my saved messages disappear. This is what it looks like when I try and read the messages:

If I open up the group "Today", it will all look like this. If I collapse the older messages, and then open up "Today", then I can view the current messages.

How can I access the old messages though?

EDIT: This happens with all of my email accounts (not just the gmail).
