Help! I receive an error when I load Outlook 2007. My pst file cannot be opened and I should run the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst) to fix. When I do that, scanpst gets to a point where it says that the program was stopped and no changes were made to the file. I have run scanpst 5 or 6 times and each time I get the same error. Outlook cannot open the file in normal or safe mode. I have also run the disk error checking program and defragged the drive.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate, 32 bit.

I know there are software repair utilities, but they seem to be expensive. Does anybody have suggestions or recommendations on software repair utilities that are more reasonably priced?

Thanks in advance for any help ...

    Hi

If you have not already tried this then give it a go, make sure Outlook and your Antivirus ( if you have Spybot S&D or similar also disable that too ) are closed before running Scanpst, when you run it do so from the Admin account ( may also be worthwhile rightclicking scanpst and choosing "run as administrator" shouldnt be needed, but does help at times when running applications in Vista ) and see how you get on.

I booted in safe mode, uninstalled everything I could via task manager and had the same problem. Also tried to execute as administrator -- still getting the same error. I have researched Microsoft forums and KB with no help ... except run scanpst. Since I don't have a complicated system, I'm hardpressed to believe that I am the only one with a problem AND, given the price of some of the "outlook repair" software, I suspect there must be a strong need for repairing problems resulting from faulty Microsoft software.

Are there any other suggestions? What are some reasonably priced software that others have experience with? Would appreciate any thoughts, suggestions, or recommendations. Thanks again ...

Could anybody recommend some reasonably priced "repair" software utilities?
