My MS outlook 2007 just stopped opening headings/photos in the text and now I have just the red "x" in the top right corner of each part of the email.

I just noticed it within the last week. Unable to open pictures in my emails from various business (ie department store pics; facebook, etc.) When I right click to download pics, just get the red x and then only the option to save the pic if right clicked again. Seems to be happening with all pictures in the email itself, not any attachments.

My operating system is windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1. IE11. I use Chrome as my browser.

I read your response to a member that was posted earlier in the year and the help fix it link and it did not work for me. I have tried the microsoft fix it program as well as the trust center all to no avail.

    Any suggestions?
    Thank you

Greetings irabe, and welcome to MajorGeeks.

That's a fairly old Outlook - what IE version are you running? You might try IE's tools, see if there's any "Work Offline" setting that's enabled - I've read that "If ie 7 is in "Work Offline" mode it will cause outlook 2007 to not download pictures".

Another shot would be to make sure that Internet Explorer is your default browser (since you mentioned Chrome), see if your symptoms change.

Thank you so much for your help,. As I had stated my IE version is 11. I had checked in both outlook and the IE to ensure that I was not work offline prior to sending you my message, I also did try using IE instead of Chrome and that did not make a difference, in fact I have been using Chrome for many years and there has never been a problem with it affecting my Outlook.

Out of desperation, I downloaded the Tweaking.com - the windows repair program and that seemed to resolve the issue. In fact my system is running better than ever. And my Outlook program issue appears to have been resolved as well.

I had researched the net and various forums and had tried all types of solutions with no success prior to contacting you, and I was getting pretty frustrated. After writing you I and took a chance with the windows repair program. It was a long process, but definitely worth the effort.

As for still running Office 7, Microsoft is still supporting this system until 2020, so why pay to upgrade, if is isn't broke.

I hope that my solution will help out others who are in my position.

    Cheers

Tweaking.com Windows Repair is an amazing program - keep it in your PC toolbox. I have repaired Windows problems that Microsoft's Fix-Its couldn't repair.
FYI I also use MSO Outlook 2007.

Thank you all for your help and for this site. I have learned so much over the years from you and you all have been really great.

And most definitely I will be keeping this program in my tool box.
