Outlook cannot send test message but mail can be sent.
Cloudmark Desktop anti spam not working (unless PC is booted in safe mode) ie cannot connect in Outlook.
Test message from Outlook provides this text in Inbox even if PC is booted in safe mode:

This is the mail system at host xxxx.orange.fr.
I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients.
    The mail system
<xxx@xxx.co.uk>: host xxxx.co.uk[xxx.xxx.x.xx] said: 550 No From and/or Date header given (required by RFC 2822)

In this forum I found a useful thread of 2004 saying change outcmd.dat to .old with Outlook closed, but I am using Win 7 64 with Outlook 2007 and cannot find a file by this name, so I write for help please as this fix may not apply and the fault means I am swamped with spam and going crazy!

Seem that by chance since a patch in Cloudmark Desktop anti spam, the error arrived but in safe PC boot mode Cloudmark can connect. I don’t think the problem is with Cloudmark.

I tried again Outlook test message and it reports all ok but failure in delivery with error message as posted above. Re entering accounts data, SMTP etc does not mend the fault.
Disabling Kaspersky does not mend the fault.
Booting the PC in SAFE MODE does let CLOUDMARK CONNECT but still Outlook test message says all completed OK then the same error arrives in the mail in box as shown above.

    Thanks for any help !

    Hi

I would just check this out HERE to see if security app is blocking your outgoing connection to Cloudmark as you mention it works in Safe Mode, Safe Mode will disable any security apps from starting hence the connection.

Do tell us what Security software you have installed and is Kaspersky the full package internet protection version?

I would also be tempted to uninstall and re-install cloudmark again just in case an update has caused this issue.

    Thank you

I have been using and now, today, deleted Kasperky PURE ver 9.1.0.124 and now Cloudmark does connect. But Outlook test message still says all OK yet error as before in the inbox with message saying failure to deliver. Normal mail still sends OK. What else can I check to see why Outlook test messages do not get sent. I have deleted and reloaded Cloudmark.

I was assured by Kaspersky that if I selected PAUSE or EXIT from Pure and the fault remained then PURE was not at fault. Deleting the programme has cleared the fault so that is interesting to note.

I am still waiting for a reply from Kaspersky as to how to inspect which ports it is controlling and or how to set it up for CLOUDMARK despite my setting Cloudmark as an approved application. I have written again today.

Thank you for your reply and the confidence it gave me to delete the anti virue software.

Reminds me of an update I got from Avast (forget which one) a few months ago that caused it to crash. Messed up the graphics on the screen, etc, basically disabling the PC. It was a widespread problem though, and Avast had the problem fixed within hours...

OK so the Cloudmark patch created a conflict with your A-V? Removing the A-V fixed the connection problem, but the test message problem persists.

You contacted Kaspersky...did you contact the Cloudmark developers? If their patch is to blame, could be the best (fastest) chance for a full fix might come from them?

Cloudmark has from the start said that the fault has nothing to do with them.
So I am stuck not knowing how to configure PURE, choose a better AV and solve
the Outlook test message failure to send issue. I shall re contact cloudmark but as the fault clears when Pure is deleted I do not think they will offer any solutions.

I see. That seems a little skewed to me. Can't say exactly why I think so, but isn't this one on cloudmark? Oh well...

Just for the record...a vote for Avast if you are required to change. Perhaps you have an idea for your new A-V already of course...

Thank you for the note re AVAST.
The reason Cloudmark claim immunity is due to the error message provided by Outlook.
They state this proves there is a connection issue from Outlook that remain in fault status even when Cloudmark is removed or Pure is removed. Then when Cloudmark is installed without Pure and works they say that proves they are OK. Thank you again for your prompt reply at least now I can see where the issue is

    Update

    Issue solved

Kaspersky PURE deleted and their forum stated I should upgrade free to PURE 2.0

    Cloudmark now works

Outlook test message still stating OK sent but getting error in InBox so it must be a corrupt file in Outlook but as mail works and Cloudmark I shall leave it

Hopefully the test message issue is something that will work itself out over time. At least you have the PC to a point where you can work with it :)...

    Thanks for the update
