Is there anyone out there who can help me?
I am using Microsoft Office 2000 with Windows XP.
I sent an email today and got a "Message failure" email back with a size of 22 MB from mailer-daemon. Everytime I open Outlook it just freezes. I cannot delete the email or perform any other task because it freezes immediately after opening.
I contacted my ISP and they said that I should re-install Outlook which I don't really want to do as I have a lot of emails saved on there relating to work. Is there any way that I can get into Outlook to delete emails through some other means? I have run virus scans and would appreciate a reply in simple terms.
    Many thanks

just an addendum to TxTazDad's post on Outlook 2000 detect and repair, you will need to goto Contol Panel > Add/Remove > Highlight Office 2000 or Outlook 2000 if it was a standalone install > Click Add/Remove > from the choices pick Repair Office ( may need the original Office CD if the cab/installer files were not copied to the HD )

also how long did you leave Outlook freezing/hanging.. its very possible that it could be still working in th ebackground and as the file is large your AntiVirus maybe still scanning it... leave it for 10mins or so, just to be sure as if it starts wirking normally you then will be able to delete the message normally.

Many thanks for such a quick reply. I don't think the email I sent was that big. It was a copy of a scanned invoice which had been emailed to me. I cannot go into help in outlook because it totally freezes when I open it. I also went into add/remove programs but it just gave me the option to delete the program, not repair it. Having said that I can't find the cd. This is not my day. I have left it hanging and hopefully, it is that its still working in the background and it will eventually unfreeze. Fingers crossed.

Was their by any chance in Add/Remove and in the options when you highlight office to "change"?

Edit: Ment to also ask is this PC on an corporate network or a home PC?

You were right - it must have been running in the background. It has stopped crashing and I have deleted the email. When I sent it it was 10 MB so I don't know where the 22 came from. Many many thanks for your time and trouble.

    Kind regards

Nope probs, glad we could help :)

Possible to the increased size would be the returned email added your original to the returning email doubling its size!
