Outlook Express 6

A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Subject 'Re: "For Sale!"', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

The above is the error message I get when I try to SEND a message. I can receive, no problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

Yup, call up comcast.

 

Many thanks you guys. Comcast does have the info advising us to change the server port. I should have looked there first, but I thought it was my Outlook Express causing the problem. It works properly now that I set it properly! Thanks again!

 

I am still, however, unable to get Outlook Express to open attachments properly. I have to save them as attachments in my documents, then select "Open With Outlook Express" for each one. Any suggestions would still be greatly appreciated!

 

Call 'em up again. Could be your security software. Or you can create another account & see if you can open attachments in that account.

 

For the benefit of those, although unlikely, who may be more computer challenged than I:
I had inadvertently changed the association for "EML" files to be opened with Windows Media Player. It works like a charm now that I corrected that self inflicted error! Many thanks for all your suggestions and help!
