Hi guys and of course gals.

My outlook express and suddenly asked me for my password and will not let me in. I was not aware that I ever put a password on this programme, can anybody help me. How can I find out my password or bypass this.

I need to read my emails and send some but can not do a thing.

    Many thanks

    Tara

Your first port of call, is to double check with your ISP, if they are recieving lots of calls from people reporting this, then its a problem at their end, and if at sometime you did have a password that you cannot remember they can reset it for you, also check all your internet connections on your PC, sometimes a loose connection, i:e to your modem or your router, can also cause this, unfortunately if you have set a password that you have forgotten and your ISP cannot retreive it for you ( which i very much doubt ), then you will have to set up a new account !

Do you mean you cannot even open Outlook Express, or that you can open it but cannot send or retrieve email? I think this point needs to be clarified.

If the latter case applies here, then I agree with rustyjack's suggestion to contact your ISP.

What about webmail access to your email? Does you ISP provide webmail access? In other words, can you access your email account via web browser?

Hi, I open outlook express i get a box that says Logon pop .sky.com it says please enter your user name and password for the following server. Server is smtp.tools.sky.com it has my username which is my email address and password box but I do not know this. It does let me go into outlook and view all my messages but can not send or receive messages.

It appears that your ISP (sky.com) requires credentials (userid/password) to send email for it's clients. Not uncommon. You need to contact sky.com and ask them to reset the password to your userid. Then when you fire up Outlook you can put in the proper password.

The password requirement still applies. Outlook Express has to connect to your ISP's mail server and that requires the proper account elements be setup in Outlook express for logging on, or connecting to, the mail server.

Tara, your login and password for Outlook Express should be exactly the same as your login for your Sky internet access.
