Outlook Express dbx files

I recently got a new laptop and I saved my old outlook express messages to an external hard drive and put them on the new machine. The problem is, I can't view them, they are .dbx files. How can I view these and how can I reinstall outlook express on my new machine or at least outlook? Thanks.

I also have OE, and that is the link it is showing me for DBX files.. Hope it helps ya

 

If you copy the old folders containing the .dbx files to your new machine, you can import the data within them from OE.

OE will be installed with all recent versions of Internet Explore if it isn't already there. Outlook is part of MS Office = you gotta pay for it.

 

As this is a newish laptop it will have Vista, and you cannot install Outlook Express in Vista. The equivalent program in Vista is Windows Mail, and the following link describes how to import OE's dbx files into Windows Mail. I haven't tried it myself so cannot guarantee it will work, but on the site where I found it the poster said it had worked for him, so good luck with it.
