Outlook Express signatures

I've just installed a new hard drive in my work computer and have managed to transfer all my messages, address book, blocked senders and account details, all with no problem, as I've done this on a number of occasions. Mind you, it's still pretty annoying that OE files are stored on the computer in different locations, and all this has to be done in several steps! I know there are various programs out there that will do this task, but my employers will probably refuse to purchase one, as it's not something that will benefit them directly!

Anyway, my question is rather belated, as I have now sorted this, but can anyone please tell me, for future reference, if there is a way to backup and restore email signatures? I have searched the Internet, but have been unable to find anything that would indicate this is possible. I have had to re-enter them all manually, but this is a real pain as I have quite a few. Some are directly typed into the text box, but some are linked to text files, so I've had to re-establish all the links. As I say, not impossible, but a pain when I have so many (which I do need for various reasons).

    Thanks in anticipation.

Perhaps this tutorial from the blog Basic Computer Information could be of some inspiration?

Cordialis, thank you, but the tutorial link you give is to a page about organising OE emails, a task I have no problem with. I did, however, search for information about backing up and restoring email signatures, which was the main purpose of my original post, but there was nothing on the site to help with this issue.

Only thing I can think of is to copy and paste the sigs into a .doc, if they're long and complex, then you won't have to retype them... works with Outlook, should work with OE too, test one. I can't get to the PC with OE on it right now - it's in a room with construction going on. Good Luck

Sorry for not acknowledging your response - I have been away and this matter was not uppermost in my mind on my return, as it's sorted for the time being.

I did end up retyping some of them, as I mentioned. Some were links to text files, which of course only needed to be re-linked, but I will probably copy the others into a .doc, as you suggest, so that they don't have to be fully typed in again next time I change drives.

I was really just wondering if there was a simple back-up method for signatures. I know that other OE settings (mailboxes, address book, etc) have to be backed up as separate operations, but couldn't find anything for signatures.
