outlook express wont delete messages

My outlook express has over 35000 inbox messages and wont delete any of them. tried all the regular ways but nothing works. i have run adaware, spybot, and mcafee virus. no luck. any clues?

 

You want to get rid of all of them?

do a search for inbox.dbx and rename it to inbox.old.

Then reopen OE.

 

thanks, i did that and it did in fact clear out the inbox. however. even with just a couple messages in there i cant delete anything still. should i redownload the program? i already did this once and it didnt help.

 

I dont know how to do the isp mail. the outlook express came with my isp original startup disks for the internet provider. I have upgraded it to 6.0 but that was long before the problem started. I can access through mail2web.com and it works ok but all the messages get downloaded so cant delete the server stored messages cuz there arent any. as i understand it, the messages on my account get all downloaded and are stored on my machine. vs like hotmail or yahoo where they are stored on the server. so it must be a glitch in the outlook express. but i even re downloaded it from microsoft web site and still no luck. should i do an uninstall and then re download?

xflat. my outlook express doesnt have a line for mail delivery so i cant find any box that says leave copy on server. might be a situation with my isp. i dunno. but i think that there are no copies ont eh server cuz when i use mail2web after recieving all the messages for the day, the mal2 web says there are no messages in the inbox
